Yay or Nay: Escalade-V

As much as the CTS has been the poster child for every step of Cadillac’s new direction, it isn’t the must have Caddy and never will be.

The Escalade is the Caddy people aspire to. The one they pay full price for. The truck they drop into their rap verses. The vehicle which you look forward to purchasing the plate that reads, “TRFY WIF.” Considering Cadillac’s all out assault to rebrand themselves as a cross between BMW, Jaguar, and Terminator 2, I would think the Escalade is a major source of frustration for Johan de Nysschen and friends.

With the CTS name dying soon, perhaps the face of the V-series should finally match the face of Cadillac. So what do you think Oppo, could an Escalade-V be a legitimate thing? How should it even be done? Go for a five seat Bentayga? Keep three-rows and go GL63 with more power? Get as much off-road focus as on-road and be a Range Rover Supercharged?

All I know is that I want to use the phrase, “Well that Escaladed quickly!”

You’d keep it as is, add power. People don’t want a lightened sports car from the Escalade. They want their full-featured SUV, but faster.

If they wanted to include the Escalade in the direction the brand as a whole is going, then this is a great idea. A “high performance” Escalade with 100-120 more hp and torques and people would HAVE to buy it because their neighbor JUST bought an Escalade and now I need to get the BEST one!!!

My thoughts exactly. Chevy can’t keep up with the Corvette demand. AMG can’t keep up with the V12 demand. Escalade production must be overheating the conveyor belts.

That would be as dumb as an M version of the X5 or those horrible GT things BMW keeps foisting on those poor blind folks with really bad taste. Oh, wait - nevermind...

They don’t need to add more power or tighten the suspension. I figure they could call it a V and just put some leather on the pedals, vents, sun visors, some deep pile carpeting and a headliner made out of some endangered animal and up the price by 67.2%. It’s more expensive, so it must be better, right?
